Moral Fiber 🌿
Moral fiber - Ethical courage. This term dates back to the second half of the 1800s. In a historical context, it was notably applied to World War II pilots who, buckled under the intense strain of combat, refused to fly, thus being accused of a lack of moral fiber. Playwright Terrence Rattigan immortalized this use in Flare Path (1942): “And on my confidential report they’d put—grounded. Lack of moral fibre” (2:2).
