Turn of the Tide
🔄 Turn of the Tide - A reversal of fortune. Just as the tides ebb and flow, so too can human fortunes. As Shakespeare eloquently waxed poetic in Julius Caesar: “There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune” (Act 4, Scene 3). Fast forward to the 19th century, and Edward Bulwer-Lytton cleverly encapsulates the concept with, “This speech turned the tide,” in his literary masterpiece The Last of the Barons (1843).
