🌧️ Under the Weather 🌦️
Under the Weather - Feeling unwell or out of sorts. This colorful idiom is thought to originate from maritime terminology, where sailors feeling sea-sick or weather-beaten might be said to be “under the weather.” Astonishingly, its early appearances in print sometimes suggest a different interpretation. For instance, in The Memoirs of a Water Drinker (1836) by William Dunlap, “He seems a little under the weather, somehow; and yet he’s not sick.”
